What does "A FIC" mean in the Children's Books section of the Library?

"A FIC" is short for "Adolescent Fiction."  The Adolescent Fiction books are arranged on the shelf by the author's last name.

In Library Search, you'll see "Northwestern Adolescent Fiction" in the item record. The call number will begin with the first letters of the author's last name, which tells you where the book is located on the shelf.

Adolescent Fiction books are designated on the shelves by "A FIC", and on the spine of the book as "A FICTION".
